Delta Sigma Pi’s recruitment process is one that we have crafted to ensure the most equitable, inclusive, and welcoming environment for potential applicants. Each year, we strive to implement practices and procedures that accommodate all Vanderbilt students, regardless of background. Throughout the rounds of recruitment, applicants will gain valuable professional experience and engage in meaningful interactions with brothers in which they can and are encouraged to be their full, authentic selves. As the Heads of Recruitment, our mission is to provide a space for applicants to express their passion for business and our chapter's values in a way that fosters connections that last well beyond the recruitment process.

The Recruitment Process

The Application

Recruitment begins with a written application. We will review each application holistically with contextualization of each individual’s specific circumstances and opportunities.

What we are looking for: Passion, Intellectual Curiosity, and Enterprising Spirit.

The application is intended to serve as applicants’ introduction to the fraternity. Applicants should commit to completing a polished application that exhibits their unique personality and shows a strong interest in Delta Sigma Pi. Leadership potential should be demonstrated through past experiences and applicants’ commitment to improving their communities. Highlighting unique skills and business experience or knowledge is appreciated, but not required. We want to get to know you and why you would be a great Delta Sig!

Round 1: Networking Round

The networking round is designed to get to know you beyond your application, as well as for you to get to know us. Expect to visit three tables, each assigned to a specific topic: DSP Interest, Career Interest, and Personal Interests. Applicants are expected to be able to give detailed descriptions of events or stories that are key to showing us who they are and what they care about. Beyond these topics, feel free to talk about anything and keep the conversation organic. You will start your conversation at each table with your elevator pitch. Each conversation will last approximately 10 minutes. You may also bring a printed resume to this round- it is optional, and not required.

What we are looking for: Responsiveness, personality, professionalism

Attire: Casual - Shirts & Pants/Jeans

Round 2: Extemporaneous Round

Round 2 is an extemporaneous presentation in which applicants will enter a room for 20 minutes to a surprise prompt and activity.

What we are looking for: Creativity, communication ability, & critical thinking

This round is intended to evaluate applicants’ ability to think critically on their feet, problem solve, and communicate effectively and compellingly. Communication is essential for the business industry as presentation and negotiation occur in the professional space on a daily basis. Applicants should be prepared to come up with out-of-the-box ideas and showcase the way they think and approach problems.

Attire: Business Casual

Round 3: Interview Round

Applicants in the third round should expect to answer behavioral, technical, and situational questions in three back-to-back interviews, as well as have a one-minute elevator pitch prepared to showcase why you should be a part of Delta Sigma Pi. This round allows applicants to showcase their personality and business intellect, prioritized over any specific answer to questions asked. With that being said, there should be some knowledge of current business events and business techniques (i.e., market sizing) as well as a general business mindset.

What we are looking for: Genuine Business Interest, Engaged and Thoughtful Answers, and Personable Discussion. Evidence of preparation for interviews is critical, and will be readily evident in applicants’ answers; most important, though, is to express your complete thought process in responses. Polished, authentic answers expressing passion for a future in business and as a part of Delta Sigma Pi will help applicants stand out in each interview. Sell yourself with confidence and be prepared to think creatively while having an engaging interview with a potential brother.

Attire: Business Professional

No-Tolerance Recruitment Policy

The Omicron chapter of Delta Sigma Pi has a no-tolerance policy in regards to the following: harassment/bullying, violence towards others, sexual misconduct, discrimination, making threats to others, issues with Honor Council, or instances of cheating during the recruitment process. Committing any of the preceding acts will result in immediate removal from the recruitment process.

Furthermore, as a professional business fraternity, the Omicron chapter does not accept applications from individuals currently undergoing any form of Title IX, Honor Council, or criminal offense trial. As an organization that places great emphasis on community, Delta Sigma Pi values the input of all brothers in the recruitment process; thus, in order to make all brothers as comfortable as possible, applying to Delta Sigma Pi while undergoing any of the previously mentioned trials will result in an immediate removal from the recruitment process. If the individual is found not guilty or the charges against them are dropped, they are allowed to reapply during the next recruitment cycle
